Stepping up from inner-city Toronto by way of the Province of Ontario’s Lakeland frontier of Peterborough, Mokomokai is a hard-rockin’ foursome whose thundering stage assault has set the North American rock and metal tour circuit alight since first forming in 2012. Critics and fans alike have been astounded by Mokomokai’s white-hot brand of rock ‘n’ roll, which takes its inspiration from the likes of Motorhead and Judas Priest, and pushes it all fast and further into incendiary territory.

To date their debut album release “Poison Whiptail”(Boonsdale Records), including their anthemic debut self-titled single “Poison Whiptail”, the searing banshee wail of “Heavy Metal Sky” and the gut-wrenching, arctic chills of the titanic “Mountains of Madness”, have attracted a fiercely loyal following both at home in the band’s native Canada and abroad.

The protean power of Mokomokai’s explosive lineup starts with originals John Ellis on high-octane guitar and Halfordesque vocals, matched by the heavy bottom of bassist Jeremy Pastic. As Ellis and Pastic took to the road and Mokomokai’s reputation quickly grew, second guitarist Bobby Deuce (veteran of Moncton’s Iron Giant and Konjurer) packed up from New Brunswick and motored it to Toronto specifically to join forces. Mokomokai most recently firmed up the assault with the addition of drummer JJ Tartaglia (of renowned Toronto bands Skull Fist and Final Trigger).

But if you are a lover of all eras and aspects of heavy metal, then look no further than Mokomokai’s newest 2018 release “Shores of the Sun” (Boonsdale Records). This Album is yet another seemingly impossible marriage of the classic and the modern. From the Bluesy stadium vibes of single “World of Sorrow” to the fast, wild and sacrilicious current of “Come Down”, this album truly stands on the shoulders of every corner of the hard rock and metal universe and drives both in patently bold new directions. Produced at Progold Studios in Toronto, Ontario by the notorious Ian Blurton (of such noteworthy Can-rock acts as C’mon, Change of Heart, Bionical and Public Animal), this is yet another hook, line and sinker in a way only these boys can deliver!
